| 2. | Maintain barricades so they effectively keep unauthorized personnel out of the area. |
| 3. | Barricades are required and will be used around activities such as: |
| Trenching | |
| Demolition | |
| Overhead work | |
| 4. | In some circumstances, an area may be barricaded warning personnel of multiple hazards. An example of this is a barricade around numerous excavations or steel erection. |
| Warning | Call your attention to a hazard and keep people away from the area but offer no physical protection. Warning systems must be in place prior to work beginning and removed when the hazard is no longer there. |
| Caution Tape (Yellow) | Implies that personnel can enter the area using caution after they have determined what hazards are present. |
| Danger Tape (Red) | Indicates a high degree of hazard and that only authorized people associated with the work being performed can enter the area. Danger tape is not a substitute for fall protection, protective barriers, guardrails, or hole protection. It may be used when controls are being installed. Signage should be placed in danger areas indicating the hazard and responsible supervisor with contact information. |
| Snow Fence (Orange) | May also be used as a barricade in certain situations. |
